Pat & I had a great time sailing tall ships in August & September. We sailed on the Norwegian ship, Christian Raddich, from Bremerhaven, Germany, to Ijmuden, Netherlands. This was our first, and very probably last, sail on the North Sea. The Raddich is beautiful, and the crew delightful, but it was winter out on the sea.
We participated in Sail Bremerhaven and Sail Amsterdam. There were so many more tall ships than we've ever seen before! It was a great experience that included the festivals and a chance to see many old friends in the Netherlands.
In September we were off to Erie, PA to sail on US Brig Niagara. We met the ship in Buffalo and eased back into our watches and duties. There are many friends there, as well, so time off included much socializing. Brendan & Charlotte joined us in Erie, after their trip form the West Coast.
Rebecca is off on a year of adventure before starting college at the University of Colorado. We miss her a lot and wish her safe travels. We have some new faces in the crew.
Brendan should be back on board in a week or so; we're looking forward to having him back in the mix. We have some new (to us)Mates-Lee, Robert and Lizzy. They're fitting right in and learning the quirks of the junk rig.
We're looking forward to fall sailing. Come along!
