This part of the world is a very busy place for boats this time of year. Memorial Day, Aquapalooza and the 4th of July make for every kind of watercraft on the river. Sailing in the Atlantic has been much more peaceful on those weekends.
Rebecca just returned from three weeks on the US Brig Niagara, where she learned about tall ships, history and science. She reports that she had a wonderful time and even learned some new things. We missed her and are happy to have her back aboard until she leaves for her next big adventure.
Brendan is in the wilds of British Columbia, teaching sailing and doing camping with high school kids. I hear that they're pushing further north to avoid the smoke from the wildfires that are devastating the Canadian west.
We've been lucky with the weather; so far avoiding the thunderstorms. That IS the summer weather issue. Often, the very ominous looking clouds and storms never make it to New Smyrna, a good thing for our sails, not so good for my garden.
We've also been doing work on the boat-trying to do that early and late in the day. She's looking good!
