Regular updating of the ships log is a critical thing on a functioning vessel, keeping record of what maintenance has happened, what work is being done and the like. We're going to be aiming to put a blog post up every weekend, detailing the events of the week. For special occasions we may get some mid week posts as well, we'll see how that goes. If you're looking for more day to day, minute to minute stuff there is always our facebook, which should be popping up with things much more quickly.
So in the past couple weeks we've been doing a lot of painting. The Captain and I started with the interiors of the bulwarks, getting them sparkling white. Then came the arduous process of stripping and cleaning the deck. The paint on the deck was the unfortunate mix of "Not holding to the deck well enough to keep" and "Not coming up easily" so we spent a few days working on that. Finally, scraped and sanded we started laying down primer, then paint, then sand (for the non-skidding) and finally some more paint to hold the sand in place.
Mixed in with that we had a few charters come our way, giving us an opportunity to make some new friends and go sailing.
And speaking of that, I do admit that I got a great deal less sailing done this trip, but the work that we did was work that needed to be done and that's what's most important. She's a lovely boat, and taking care of her comes first; it always will.
And with that, I think I'm off.
